A One Name Study

If you're reading this then chances are you are either an Angilletta, married to one or descend from one and so Welcome to what I hope to be the most comprehensive site for this surname available to date. While not as common an Italian surname as some, it does pre-date to the early 1500's in the province of Reggio Calabria, Italy as seen on the La Casata dei Lupi website:
Il 4 agosto 1580 la magnifica Ippolita de Lupis (sorella di Ippolito, procuratore dei Carafa ) è presente insieme al marito, il notaio magnifico Giovanni Lorenzo Angilletta, alla stipula in Grotteria dei capitoli matrimoniali del figlio Giovanni Domenico Angilletta
While I can't say I descend from this family at the moment, I can't say that I don't either. I have only been able to trace the surname back to the mid 1700's, and only with the help of some friends, but perhaps one of you reading this will find you do descend from them. Hopefully you will drop me a line and let me know if you do as I would be interested in any information you can provide on this or any other family. Contributions, pictures or any other type of donation is welcomed.
I will post as much information as I can to this site but I do respect the privacy of living persons and so you may not be able to find any information about recent generations here. However, if you are interested in a particular family send me an email and let me know how you are connected and I will attempt to connect you to a descendant of that family.
You may want to also check out the Angilletta Blog or our Facebook Group for more information or to connect with others with our surname.
